CCAR is committed       to:

Consult with the community and assess the       strengths, weaknesses and priorities and problem areas of Camden       County.

•       Strengths: Religious & Worship opportunities, Public Safety such as       police, fire and EMS, education system, and public health services such as       the health department, CMAP, etc.
• Weaknesses: Public Transportation, employment opportunities,       care of the elderly (nursing homes), and affordable housing       availability.

•       Priorities: Health services (doctors, dentists, hospitals, etc), education       system, public safety, and employment opportunities.

• Problem Areas: Job       opportunities, teen pregnancy, drug & alcohol abuse, and       unemployment.

Offering capacity building       services for organizations that provide direct services to populations in       Camden County. We have created Memoranda of Agreement with organizations       such as:

• CCHS Fine Arts for the Kids on the Block puppet       program for elementary students;
• Cumberland Oaks Betterment Committee for an       afterschool program to assist with homework, support and encouragement but       will also keep the kids focused and out of dangerous situations;
• Georgia       Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division/Woodbine Women’s Club to       provide a Bird Sanctuary. This will foster family involvement and       community and environmental connectedness.
• St.       Marys Middle School for a portable computer lab for students to do       research on alcohol, the effects on the body, mind and community and to       make a presentation to others in the school.

Changing benchmarks such as policies,       regulations, and the environment.

• We       have embraced alcohol licensees and their employees as partners in       preventing underage access to alcohol by providing positive response and       rewards to those licensees who pass undercover alcohol compliancy       checks.
•       City of St. Marys has passed an ordinance that requires all       sellers/servers of alcohol to be trained under the Safe Seller/TIPS       training before January.
•       Committee work on improving the opportunities for family leisure and       recreational atmosphere by converting an abandoned railroad corridor into       a trail and getting a local government to adopt it into its recreational       master plan and proceed with the project, and developing a natural green       space/park in an under served area of the county.
