What is the       Prevention Credentialing Consortium of Georgia? The Prevention       Credentialing Consortium of Georgia (PCCG) is a 501© (6) organization with       committees covering credentialing, recertification, training, public       relations, resource development and prevention ethics. A Board of       Directors represents both the private and public sectors (including grass       roots representation) in Georgia.

What       is PCCG’s vision/ mission? It is the vision of PCCG, Inc. that       everyone working in the field of prevention in Georgia will become       credentialed.  It is the mission of PCCG, Inc. to establish and       promote the credentialing standards of excellence in the field of       prevention. PCCG works to advance prevention as a viable and effective       professional and personal discipline to benefit Georgia communities and to       promote the well-being of all people in Georgia. PCCG’s accepted       definition of prevention is an “active, assertive process of creating       conditions and/or fostering personal attributes that promote the       well-being of people.” (Lofquist)  An applicant for certification       must document experience and demonstrate competency in five Performance       Domains.

PCCG’s Prevention Focus is: To advance health promotion and prevention* as viable and       effective professional and personal disciplines, and to assure standards       of excellence in those disciplines in order to promote the well-being of       all people in the State of Georgia. *Definitions (Revised March,       1998) of these two disciplines follow below: Health Promotion: The       process of enhancing the desirability of healthy life style       choices.
